There are many, many, many ideas on what to drink before you go to bed. As with all of the articles found on this site, some might appeal to you while others are (literally & figuratively) not your cup of tea. These drinks are intended to relax you and to help build a ritual that signals your mind and body that sleep is on the horizon. Taken with our Arrow Method tincture (to be taken 30 minutes before you go to bed), this combo might help you get the sleep you so dearly crave.
Below are a few ideas for things to try instead of popping sleeping pills. Give them a whirl to see what works for you.
Chamomile with Tart Cherry, Ginger & Turmeric
Here’s an easy one for you steep chamomile tea in a cup of water and a cup of tart cherry juice. (No need to bring this to a raging boil… just a rolling boil is sufficient)
Toss in 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
Grate some ginger and toss it into the pot you use for stepping everything.
5 minutes or so later you have some amazing tea.
The idea with this tea is that tart cherry juice is a natural source of melatonin. Turmeric has been shown to lessen anxiety and promote better sleep. Ginger has many amazing benefits including reducing muscle pain and soreness.
Banana Cinnamon Tea
This one makes soooo much sense.
Bananas contain potassium (regulates blood pressure) and magnesium (relaxes muscles) and B6 (helps to regulate sleep cycles)
Cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar levels in your body and through controlling these spikes, you will sleep better.
2 cups of water in a pot with a peeled banana and just bring to a rolling boil
Toss in cinnamon.
Let this do its magic on the stove for about 10 minutes
Pour this over a strainer into a teapot or into cups
I know this is not gonna be for everyone but some people do want a more substantial drink before going to bed. It is probably wise to have this about an hour before you go to bed. If this is the case, this smoothie has a ton of nutrients as well as many of the sleep inducing qualities of tart cherries and bananas cited in the previous drinks.
1/2 cup uncooked rolled oats
2 cups spinach
1 cup brewed chamomile tea (cooled)
1 cup tart cherry juice
2 tbsp almond butter (or another nut butter of your choosing)
